Hi Everyone Had my surgery on Sept 10, 2004, doing well but had allot to learn and to adjust to. I fought for 12 months to get this WLS and finally it happen. Allot of people on this board is all excited, which is nice. to get approved and to get this done. Myself I prepare my self for this with counceling. On Sept. 11, 2004 when I finally was taken off the pain medication so I can wake up , the first thing I said to myself is What the hell did I've done? This is not an easy change, you need to be strong. You need to be prepare for this. I always was a hard worker and I do over do it at times, but now I do not have any energy like I use to. It is slowly coming back, but if ur not mentally prepared for this it can really bring you down into a depression. I'm not depressed, I just don't feel up to power of who I was. Eating is hard, learning what you can and can not handle anymore. This is a lifestyle change. The queston I had in my head was are you truely ready for this change?? I thought I was, but it is harder then you think. Yes I am happy with my current weight loss, but I was never the type to take time to spread out your meal and snacks thru out the day. I am an Excutive Chef and I have no desire to prepare food for my self like I did in the past. Especially now wow I'm on a puree diet. After you all pre op & post op had or having the WLS Surgery, What did or will you miss after having this surgery? Myself I miss fresh vegetables raw. My Vegetable Sandwich in a tortilla wrap. I am graving for one so badly. I know it will get better, but I want to post this to make sure that the pre op members will be prepare fully for this. This is a big step and a change in ur life, and depression can set in and make matters worst. I have notice this from other post on this site. I been down in the dumbs a few times but I have my friends online and my groups to keep me going.. There is alot I miss now, but I am going forward with this new challenge. To be able to live the life that I have left behind for years due to Morbibe Obesity. Prepare yourselves and be strong Daniel

I'm so glad to see your posting. I had my surgery 8/19 but had some complications. I was back in surgery 2 more times and in the hospital for 2 weeks. Nothing could have prepared me for what I went through. I almost lost my life. A friend of mine had it done 9/20. She said the same thing. She thought she was prepared but she really wasn't. I know it affects everyone differently, but this surgery wiped me out. I am now 6 weeks post op and still have no energy to speak of. I know I've been through more than most but I just wasn't ready for what I've been through. People need to try to prepare themselves as much as they can. I don't think anything any one says though can fully prepare you. Kim

Hi Daniel. I do know what you are going through. I am 11 weeks out and I still go through depressing nights. You will have those sandwiches again and soon. You wont be able to eat a whole one but it does get easier. I miss the social times going to dinner with friends or family and not being abl e to order because I really dont care what I eat, just fill that pouch lol.The hardest thing for us is the big change in our lives. We dont need that much to eat, thats why we are here. Being obese is the worst thing that could ever happen. I am 55, had horrible diabetes 100 units of insulin a day, now just a pill twice a day. No more zocor, and I have a ton of energy, Take one day at a time,it gets better and soon you wont think so much about it. Keep your chin up, we will all be fine, love Cindy
