Hello everyone.. I am looking for a WLS support group in Columbus. I've been to the one at Mt. Carmel once, but it's only once a month, and I would like to be able to go more often. Also, I can't go on Monday nights because my husband works second shift. This is the only night a month they have the ones at Mt. Carmel. Thanks all! Angela

Hi Angela! We have a support group at OSU and we meet twice a month. The first and third Wednesday of every month. I have some information I can email you if you would like. Just email me your address and I will forward a copy. Our next one is next week and they start at 7pm. We always have a professional speaker, and with the holidays coming up support is VITAL. So we have some neat stuff planned!!! I would love for you to come! As would the rest of us. We have a great group here. Does your hubby come with you? That is awesome! Mine had wls too, so it is great, we get a night out with other folks and can all be on common ground. Take care! Hope to see you there! Valerie Curry, RN Lap RNY 07/10/1003 OSU 268/172/145

Angela, there are several here in the Columbus area. There is one at OSU but you have to pay to attend. Valerie Curry can give you more info on that one. Sorry, I know it isn't much help. Hugs, Jaimee

Hey Jaimee, Just wanted to let you know, that you don't HAVE to pay. That is on an honor system. It goes to help cover the cost of the room, (which sad to say is in an OSU building and we have to pay), and occassionally for the speakers. Most volunteer their time, but some do not. Shannon wanted me to be sure and let people know not to let the 5$ per person interfere with them coming. We all know that a lot of us are in financial hard times, especially when it comes to having to pay for all this stuff out of pocket. So, please guys, don't let that stop ya! By the same token, there are a lot of other support groups out there. And, like I tell everybody...surround yourself with supportive caring people. Find it where ever you can! That is the most important thing. Take it easy~ Val

Hi Valerie, It's good to know you aren't required to pay every time. There are times when we have it and times when we don't. If I want Aaron to be there with me we are forced to pay for childcare since we have no family and most of our friends are very busy with kids of their own. Maybe I will come and check it out. Thanks for clarifying for me. Cheers! ~~jaimee

Oh hey, not a problem at all. That is what I wanted to make sure that people knew. This is why we have this great board so we can keep each other informed and supported! If you can make it that would be great. I know how it is with little ones. Fortunately mine are teenagers now, so that affords me a little more independance...however I have one in cheerleading big time, so I spend my time running the ol taxi all over the place! Take care!
