Good News at Cleveland Clinic.
I went to the nutrionist and for the pschological evaluation today. I lost another 20 pounds. My last appointment was Sept.11. When I was being weighed I had to get back on to make sure it was right. That is a total of 87 pounds. I am so psyched. And when Leora was looking at my schedule to make my next appointment she told me that I'm supposed to see Dr. Nasr on Nov.5, This is awesome because I was told I have to wait until Dec.23. I can't see Dr. Chand (the surgeon****il he gives me the okay. I was told on the 11th that I had to be under 411. Now I only have to lose 2 pounds before Nov. 5th. I know I will be under 400 by then. And the psychologist told me I'm doing good and she will okay me for surgery. I told her I would like to have the surgery before June. She told me that will probably not be a problem. I am so excited. Becky Dombrosky
Hey Becky!
Congrads!!! You sound like you are doing well and will be a official loser soon! I had my surgery at the Clinic and would recommend it to anyone. I had 0 complications and the staff is wonderful. So proud of what you've done so far. It's all so worth it, I can't even explain! Good Luck and keep in touch!
God Bless,

Hi I'm from the TN message board. I have been denied 8 times for the wls surgery. A person can just handle only so much. I have joked with my TN online friends about checking with the Cleveland Clinic. But after reading some posts here, it's no joke now. What does the Cleveland clinic require in order to have the surgery? best wishes and may God be with you on your journey. Kathy
Kathy,
I can only share my experience because that is all I know. I first went to my PCP and told her that I wanted to have the surgery. First, I had to prove to her that I meant business. She wrote a letter to Cleveland Clinic as well as Akron Hospital and Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Cleveland Clinic gave me the appointment first.
When I went to the Clinic They told me that I have to go on a very strict diet. I have to be under 400 pounds to have the surgery. I really want to have this surgery so I went on the diet and am doing what the dr. tells me to. They want you to go to the nutritionistseveral times. She helps you to learn how you will change your eating habits after your surgery. They want you to have a psychological exam and other tests too. They will ask you a lot of questions to make sure you are a good candidate for the surgery. The process that you go through to have this surgery is long and tough. But it has to be so that you and the doctors are sure that it is right for you.
The toughest thing about going to Cleveland for me and may be a problem for you is all the trips to Cleveland. All the appointments have to be made in Cleveland. You can't have the tests done at home and the reports sent up. They all work as a team. But that is okay too because they all know what they are looking for. But they will try to schedule as many appointments as possible in one day to make less trips for you if you ask. Overall I am very pleased with the experience that I have had at Cleveland Clinic and would be very happy to reccommend them to anyone. If you have any other questions that I can answer I'd be happy to. Just drop me a line.
