I am 2 1/2 weeks post op, and my back is really beginning to bother me sleeping in the recliner. When were most of you able to get back to your regular sleeping positions? I normally sleep on my side, but that is still a little uncomfortable for me.

Kelly, It is hard to get back to normal after surgery but it does get better. One idea I used was to put a pillow and gently roll over so that it proped up my belly. It did work for me. Good luck. Keep the positive thoughts flowing.

Kelly, I slept on the couch for about 3 mights after Icame home and by the end of the week I was wakin up on my side/stomach even a few times. Like the post before mine said....put a pillow next to you for support and that willmake a worldof difference. GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS!!!!!

I was sleeping in bed at about 3 weeks. I used a body pillow when I was sleeping on my side. I now am back to sleeping on my belly.

My surgery was lap, and even in the hospital (with the aid of said body pillow) I was able to occasionally roll over on my side. By the time I got home 5 days later, I was quite comfortable in my own bed with the occasional "rude awaking" if I flipped over in my sleep.

We have a soft side water bed and I slept in bed the first night I was home, and it felt great. Lap RNY 10/29/02. Try laying on your side with a pillow under your belly, and one behind your back. That seemed to take the strain off my back and stomach, as I am a side, sleeper, too. Sue
