I Can't Believe It!
I just got a call from the Dr's office and my surgeon is sick. She is taking tomorrow off which is my surgery date. I have been waiting since May for this day. I have my substitute teacher all set up, my family has taken days off work, people to cover babysitting everything ready to go. Not to mention my mind set!!! I know I don't want her doing the surgery sick especially having it done lap. I want her to be perfect but I still want to cry The lady that called said that they have had several emergencies in the last few days and she is really burnt out probably why she got sick. I really wasn't worried at all about the surgery until I heard this. Pamela reassured me that it wasn't Dr. error or anything that they have done wrong, but now I am a little concerned.
Thanks for listening,
God Bless,
Mary P
Aww Mary, maybe God knew something you didn't. I know I would be very disappointed if that happened to me. I don't know if it helps ease the disappointment, but look at it this way, your surgeon probably knew she wouldn't be in top form and that you wouldn't be getting her best (not to mention being exposed to her germs when you are vunerable which could put you at risk). It sounds like you have a good surgeon who cares more about your safety and health than making a quick $$. That says a lot about her character. Personally I would want someone who is operating on me to be feeling her best. Just my thoughts on this. Just know that your surgery will happen in the right timing. Hang in there and keep your chin up. I'm rooting for you!

Jaimee
Mary, What are they doing for you? How long do you have to wait? This almost happened to me also. I know in my mind that doctors are human, but I understand your problem. Life all ready and support group making life changes to help and then no surgery. Best of luck. Hope the surgery is re-scheduled soon. Keep us informed.
Thank God for a caring doctor!! I almost didn't get my surgery while I was waiting in the hospital because of blood sugar probems. That was really scarey and I kept thinking the surgery would help with controlling my sugar.
I know you are disappointed but i believe that everything happens for a reason. Hopefully, they will be able to schedule you to a closer date than having to wait the months when you get evaluated.
This is a good time to review all the things you need to do to help yourself succeed. One thing I got from this group was a lot of their doctors recommended the liquid diet one or two weeks before surgery to reduce the liver. This allows the surgeon more room to work. My doctor didn't require it but I did it anyway because I was afraid with scar tissue from previous surgeries, he would have to open me. That scared me since one reason for the surgery is to lose enough weight for knee replacement which puts me at risks for blood clots because of my size and diabetes.
The doctor was able to do my surgery Laproscopic. Was it because of my liquid--I'll never know but I figured what could it hurt.
Hope you get a date soon
Thank you everyone!!!!!!!!!!! I am disappointed and very upset due to the fact that the surgery was postponed until Oct. 6 and the schedule change affected so many people, but I do agree that everything does happen for a reason. All of your support helps so much just to know people out there care!!!!
God Bless all of you,
Mary P.
