Hi all. Been awhile since I was on here... It has been a nightmarish month and a half for me and my son. Was evicted from my home while waiting for a reply from Disability and if it wasn't for my great friend, I would be living in my car right now. I have my son living with my parents so I don't have to worry so much about him (which helps)..Went and picked up my mail a couple of weeks ago and found my letter from Social Security...DENIED...I just lost it! They say my disability is severe, but not severe enough for them to help me... I just don't know what, or where to turn now!

Jennifer, I will pray for you. Is there anything you need right now (other than a big hug)? IF I can help, let me know. Hugs, Jaimee

Sad thing Jen is all people are usually denied their frist time. My father went on disability from a caol mines falling in on him and he was denied the first time. I bet if u were to try again u would be approved. Hang in there and best of luck to you and your son.Shonda

Jennifer So sorry to hear about your situation. Keep after social security. It is a general policy to deny the first time. I concur with getting a disability lawyer--they know the tricks. My husband had several problems and was the first person I ever knew to get approved the first time around. Six months after he got his disability he was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer-given 3 months. We were able to keep him 14 months but that disability sure came in handy as he was self employed. God works in mysterious ways and I truly believe that he gives us nothing that we can't handle with his help. I have several friends that tried to deal with SS on their own and got turned down. Once they had a lawyer--it sometimes still takes awhile--but as one of the other posts said you get paid from the date you stated your disability. Good luck--if I can help--just ask
