Approval in A Week
All,
I feel so very fortunate--my appointment to discuss my "medical necessity" letter with my PCP was one week ago today (Sep 13). I prepared an outline for the letter for him, and had already completed my psych evaluation and nutitionist appointment. Last Friday (Sep 17) I received a message from the surgeon's office that my insurance company had approved my surgery--lap RNY. I was so amazed I waited until this morning to confirm the approval with the surgeon's office.
Thanks for all the help "lurking" on this board has given me.

What great news Bunny. Sounds like you had your ducks in a row. So many have such a fight for approval. What a blessing. Now you need to start making your lists (ha ha - I am surrounded by to do lists as we speak), Before you know it you will have a date and be a big (pun intended) loser. Congrats!

Hi again,
First of all, thank you all for the kind words. Secondly, Jaimee, of course I know the expression "big loser" and I would never take your wishes as anything but the humorous expression that it is. Thanks, Jaimee!
My surgery date is Wed, Nov 10. I was able to pick the date--isn't that lucky? This way I can finish some projects at the office, prepare our son for my surgery (he's away at college and I want to tell him the news in person), and just generally get all the necessary medications, protein drinks, mushy foods, etc., ready (with the help of my terrific husband, of course) so that I won't have to do anything but walk and recover when I come home from the hospital.
BTW, my insurance is through Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Any questions I can answer, please don't hesitate to ask.

Bunny,
You are going to beat me by a whole month. I bet you're in planning mode now. I know for me having a little more than 2 months left seems pretty short when I look at all I still need to do. Keep us posted on how everything is going. You're blessed to have a good, helpful hubbie. I know, personally, I would be lost without mine.
