???Nother question of the day FUN???
Hi guys. It's Friday...YAY! This is the end of what had most certainly been a busy week. I was trying to think of something interesting but light hearted for our question. So here's what I came up with: What ERA did you grow up in and what was your favorite POP culture trend or icon?
I was an 80's child and I grew up in the era of BIG bows in the big hair ( think flammable--Aqua Net_a whole can of it!),Preppy (golf shirts with collars up) "tails" and lopsided haircuts, lots of bead neclaces,Dangly earrings, high top vans tenni shoes, oversized sweaters with "pajama" pants, swatch watches, pegging my pants or the ones with the zipper and the bow on the back of the ankle, using the word "LIKE" to begin most sentences (valley girl speak, I still catch myself doing this uggghhh) and "the Breakfast Club".
I look forward to seeing what your favorites were.
~~Keep smiling

Oh me too!!! I graduated in 1983! Love the music, there will never be music to rival our time! Duran Duran, VanHalen, George Michael, Boy George, etc...
I found a pair of those jeans at the thrift store while I was dropping weight and I snatched them up, my teen daughters freaked out. Obviously they were mortified that I would wear that in public. Remember those boots you wore with the peg pants and sweaters?
Man, that was the best wasn't it?
I thought I was going to marry Nick Rhodes some day LOL! LOVED Duran Duran! I graduated in 1990 but 80's was all that for me.
Ha ha! I found Tapered leg pants (you know, the ones that Stacy and Clinton on "what not to wear" condemn???) at the consignment store this week and I snatched those up too. I think they're cute. I had some of the boots too. I actually wore the solles out of them. There was a hole in the bottom and my sock would get wet. They were my favorites. I finally had to part with them when I had owned them for 6 years! Is that sad or what???
Ahhh Kathy, you memories that you made me think of! Love beads, candles and smoking that first joint with a boyfriend. Thinking we were so cool. Alice Cooper, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Carly Simon, posters that glowed in the dark with a blue light! Seems like yesterday! Oh and I loved my first pair of bell botttoms! I can remember going to Pogue's when jeans became the rage and paying a whole $6 for a pair!
OK, Jaimee - make me show my age! I was a child of the 70's. Black light posters, tie dye tees, and peace symbols. As far as music goes, I prefer that from the 60's or the 80's to that of my own era. We weren't allowed to wear pants ( not jeans - just slacks ) at my school until I was a sophomore!
So we just wore very short skirts! I remember having to go to the office to have my skirt measured. They were supposed to be no more than 5 inches above the knee. We'd yank them down until they measured it and then just fold over the waistband a time or two when no one was looking. HHHHmmmmmmmm, maybe once I'm post-op I'll see if I still have any of those mini skirts !!
