How do you know if you havea hernia?? I think I have one on and around my incision line.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I would know if I have a hernia? I had an open RNY March 04 and my incision line is real sore and bothering me. My incision has keloided on the upper part of my tummy. Will the doctors repair it for me? If anyone has had any similiar occurances, please let me know what to expect. On a lighter note, I am down 90 lbs and wearing 12/14 jeans. I have come along way and can't wait to hit the century mark. I look forward to a response from anyone who can tell me what is going on.
Thanks
God Bless

Gayenelle,
Good morning. Congrats on the weight loss. Since I have had 2 hernias now, I am very familiar with the pain/symptoms. In my case I saw this little pooching out area next to the incision line. One was there and one closer to my belly button. I would have your PCP check it out.

ok, hernia's can be felt by pressing into the belly or there can be an out pooching. sometimes they are hard to feel. only your PCP can determine if you have one. also just for your info (or anyone else) alot of people are saying "i hope i get a hernia so i get a free tummy tuck" THIS IS NOT TRUE. hospitals and doctors are charging two separate fees. the hospital are keeping closer track on these things. they can do a tummy tuck with a hernia repair, but its usually to different surgeons and two separate charges. hope this helps. jennifer
