Hello Everybody. Did you all have a good day? I'm still getting used to being up at the crack of dawn with my kiddies. Today was miss M's first day of preschool. She had herself a royal ball. Jumped right in and made friends with all of the other kids. She's the socialite (takes after old mom). After we left preschool I had a bit of running to do to get some things for the auction. I noticed the craft store had all of its fall decour out on display: pumpkin things, scarecrows, cornucopias, that kind of stuff. It got me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. I almost rushed home and made some hot cocoa(actually I have been using CIB but it tastes almost as good to me) So my question for today is, what is your favorite thing about fall? Do you have a tradition you celebrate every year. Is there some activity that you do? Or is there perhaps a fond childhood memory you'd like to share? I thought I would keep it light tonight after the heavy question I put out there yestersday. Of course, I'll go first. I hope some of those people who are still lurking will join us tonight. It's such fun! We have several traditions around our house in the fall. The first thing we always do is take an annual trip to the apple orchard. It is usually still nice here this time of year, so we take a picnic and spend the afternoon just enjoying some good family time. We also use fall time to enjoy the outdoors. Cleaning up the leaves is something the kids look forward to. We make big piles and let them jump in them. I am from Seattle and the leaves are alway wet and moldy out there so it is a true novelty to Aaron and I. Oh, and we usually like to go down towards Hocking hills because it is SOOOOOO pretty when the leaves change. Okay--Your turn. ~~Jaimee

That sounds very cozy! I love outdoorsy stuff like campfires. Last fall my womens' group had a bonfire and roasted weenies and just hung out. It was a cool crisp night that was perfect for that kind of thing. We have "girl's night out" once a month. I am watching the sales like a hawk to see if I can get my hands on one of those outdoor fireplaces do I can have a fire in the backyard! I can smell a weenie roast in the near future!

My favorite thing about fall is the smell of burning leaves.. lol We no longer can burn them in town so I'll go to my friends house in the country and burn leaves with them there. Something about the smell of burning leaves in the fall... I also love the colors of Fall. And I was also married in the fall... 15 years ago this Oct 14th. My birthday is also in the fall... Oct. 23 and hubby's is too.. Oct. 21. So it's a busy.. expensive season for us too. Ohh ... another thing is the smell of burning pumkins...another smell of the season. Cindy

Oh my gosh! Friday night high school football and marching season. We don't have any kids in high school any more, but my DH and I still help with the band. Our first competition is next week. It's a lot of work, but a lot of fun, too. At one of the later competitons last year, I took a couple of gallons of ho****er, and the kids could make hot chocolate (with whipped cream or marchmallows), hot cider (with cinnamon sticks) or cappacino (with grated chocolate). They couldn't believe I brought all that stuff for them! I love the cooler weather and walking our dog. He is a 120 lb Rottweiler and such a sweetheart. (All the kids know him - even if I don't know the kids!) He really suffers when it is hot, so the cool weather is his time of the year. He likes to play in the leaves (not necessarily a good thing when people have raked them into piles and here comes a big goofy dog "snowplowing " with his nose!). We always work harder when we walk in cold weather, so more calories burned for both of us! I like snuggling under the blankets at night! Sue I don't look forward to having to bundle up! Sue

I always worked in the concession stand at our home games. I loved the excitement of it all. I miss that. Your dog sounds like big ol bear. My Auntie used to have a big old Lab named Zeb that reminds me of how you describe your pup. Thanks for sharing your lovely memories. ~Jaimee

I love fall. We put out all the apple cinnamin candles and talk a long drive to look at the leaves. My favorite food every is concord grapes. I hope I won't have to give them up permenently after the surgery. I love the big sweaters and frosty mornings with warm afternoons. It also makes me think of all the school activities. I started college in the fall for my undergraduate degree and those are warm memories. We will end soccer and start basketball. My kids have long days and then I have a nice evening drinking coffee on the front porch or on the socder field. Well, you have started my day with happy thoughts. Christy

It sounds like you stay very busy with your kids. I have heard taht you cans till have grapes post-op, just not too many because they are fairly high in sugar.
