Update
Well, I had finally made the decision to go ahead and switch to Dr. C and then I found out today that I was goven misinformation about my coverage. Seems Dr. C is covered in-network, but the hospital is not. Can't afford out of network so I guess I will not be having it done there. Possibly not at all. I am at Dr. Price's office's mercy now. This stinks. Thanks all *****plied to my earlier post. You are wonderful. I know I would have had plenty of support if I had been able to go with my heart.

Jamie...Don't give up! I just had a call this morning from UHC and they told me that the surgeon that I had chosen was out of network. I asked about Dr C and they said he was covered. Surely Dr C's office can assist you on where to go next. How in the h*ll can they cover a surgeon and not the friggin hospital? That just doesn't make any since! I swear these insurance companies are a pain in the a*s to deal with. You would think that they would see the potential dollar savings that they could reap by helping you to get healthy! Everytime that I get discouraged, I come to these boards and get fired up all over again and am ready to fight. Don't let the roadblocks slow you down!!! Go get em!!!
Jaimee, I can't tell you how many times I felt just like you do now. My insurance covered NONE of mine, and there were so many times I was ready to just give it all up. Fortunately I have a dear friend who would not let that happen. I tried, everything I could think of to finance the surgery, and just kept getting shot down. I won't go into all the gorey details (you can read my profile if you want them, lol,) but I'm here to prove that if you keep the fight alive, it CAN and WILL happen!
You're one of us now girl, we'll help however we can.

keep asking questions- ins companies don't give up info easily--you have to know what questions to ask and to whom---
call and speak to someone else- may get a diff answer!of course you want it in writing!
keep your spirits up!
hi jaimee:
i have heard of patients calling the hospitals to find out if they can get on the insurance covered list. if they want your buisness bad enough they will try to get on your insurance plan. i'm not sure who you have to talk to, but research it. i know call your insurance plan. hope this helps. jennifer
Call Dr. Curry's office first thing on Tuesday and see if the doc does surgery at any other hospitals. Could be that Dr. Curry has privileges elsewhere but prefers Deaconess. The other thing is that you might be able to get your insurance to work with Deaconess to accept what they pay, if you explain your situation. Ask to see if your case can be handled through case management. You might be able to get a case manager who can go to bat for you. (That's what I do for our company.)
Don't you dare give up!
