Did you practice?

I decided to try cutting out the types of foods that I won't be able to eat after the surgery to see if I can live with this. I've started with sugar and junk food. I don't think I could handle food withdrawals at the same time as recovering from surgery. I'm backing off the coffee too.
I was so sleepy today, but I know in the long run this will be good for me.
Good idea! Yes, getting off of Diet Coke really did me in, too, but I was really glad I did it before surgery. If you drink any carbonated beverages, you might want to try to get off of these too, since you probably won't be able to have these either for awhile after surgery! By the way, can't find your profile out on the "peers" listing -- have you started an AMOS profile? It's a great way to keep a journal of your journey and your experience might help others down the road, too.

Hi Diana,
I'm not much into sodas, so that's not that big of a deal for me. I do get very nostalgic when I pass by the Krispy Kreme though.
I don't know what's up with my profile. I thought I was filling out the information properly, but it hasn't shown up. I must have missed something.

UUGH! That is going to be the hardest thing for me, giving up my Pot O Coffee every day. I am still a Seattle girl and have more coffee than blood in my veins. LOL. I have been practicing pulverizing my food though and I have been on a "diet" since December, so I am getting pretty good at denying myself the sweets. -32lbs and counting !

Hi Jaimee,
Girl, I know what you mean. When I travel, if there's not in-room coffee, I bring an immersion heater and my own coffee supplies with me. I'm trying some herbal teas to see if I can get accustomed to those, but it is just not the same.
I have good news for all the preops reading this...at least this has been my experience so far I am 8 days post op- first...there have been NO cravings for swwet stufff secondly the suga free sweet stuff you can have is going to taste 10 x's sweeter than it actually does, i have found that most of the time I have to water down anything sweet that i drink eg-crystal light gatorade juices etc..because your tastes on certain stuff is enhanced greatly, thirdly...i just simply couldn't wait for my first cup of coffee when i got home and believe it or not I bearly drank 1/2 of a small cup because it just didn't taste as good as before and i barely drink it or miss it and i was the person who didn't even want to be talked to until i at lweast had my first cup in the morning!!!!! now when i wake up i am awake and in a good mood without even thinking about coffee!!!!! you have so much more energy at least i do than i did before and mornings getting up as easy now!!!! which is a big one for me because i never did mornings well even when i was a kid it took me forever to get going in the morning!!!! SO ...DON'T FRET THE SMALL STUFF GIRLS IT IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT WORL ON THE OTHER SIDE AND SO FAR FOR ME ITS BEEN A GREAT NEW WORLD!!!!!! Barb

You know, just the dream of not having the cravings or feeling hungry all the time is almost unimaginable to me...to eat a little bit and feel satisfied with it. I don't mind giving up any food in the world to have that kind of freedom. Thank you so much for the words of encouragement, Barb.

Cindy,
I am truly looking forward to the day when food and weight are not major issues in my life. I'm ready to be normal.
