Age?

Anyone out there know of a surgeon who will do WLS on someone over 60? Just in case my insurance company takes a long time.... I'm 59 now. I'm near both Cleveland and Akron....... Thanks, Judy

Hi Judy........ I just turned 50 and had my surgery done 5 weeks ago. I know my surgeon does WLS on folks over 65....but he would be way to far too drive. He is located in Pittsburgh Pa. I am sure if you call around you will find most surgeons will operate as long as you meet their medical requirements....Good Luck....Patty

Hi Judy, the bariatric surgery program at University Hospital, Cleveland does surgery on people over 60. My friend is 61 and she is seeing Dr. Stellato. She was rejected, due to her age, by St. Vincent, Cleveland. She said she did some calling around and University Hospital was the only place taking people over 60 in the area. My surgeon was Dr. Hallowell at UH and I think he will do surgery on people over 60 if you meet the requirements of the program and your insurance will approve it. Good Luck! Alice

Dr.Curry does surgery up to 65.I had mine done 7 weeks ago and I am almost 56.It was a breeze. He is truly one of the most wonderful,compasionate Drs, I have ever met and so is his staff. Please consider an app. with him ,it will be well worth the drive, Cindy Hoeffel

Judy, Hi Yes dr. Stellato at university hospital will do surgury on people over 60. Make a appointment with him. Had my surgery on June 24th down 50+ under 200 and feel great. Pattie
