motels near osu

I am scheduled to meet with my surgeon, dr. muscarella, at osu on sept. 8. my husband will be driving me up. we live in parkersburg,wv. I am wondering about the price of motels in the area. also will they let my husband sleep in the room with me the first few nights after surgery? does any of the motels give discounts. we are both on medicare disability and funds are tight.

Hi Loretta! I just wanted to let you know I work at OSU (also one of their bariatric patients) and I may be able to help you with what you are looking for. If you can send me your email I can find out some rates and good hotels to stay at for you. I work in OB research and some of our long term patients move away and we bring them in for follow up and put them up at hotels close by. Also, I believe if you are in a private room or one of the bariatric rooms, your husband may be able to stay in the room with you. But, let me double check on that to be sure. When I went for surgery my mom stayed at the Red Roof Inn on Olentangy it's close and nice enough. She had stayed there for 6 weeks during her radiation therapy. There was a social worker at OSU who helped my mom locate places to stay.

Hi Loretta! I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I had my surgery on June 10th with Dr. Muscarella at OSU. I am so pleased with his work...he is very attentive and seems to love his job (to me that's super important). Since June I have lost 73 pounds! I got really lucky and ended up in a private bariatric room where my husband spent the entire 4 days with me. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask any of us here on the boards. Good Luck! Hi Loretta! I just completed my Nutrition class through OSU - only one more step, meet the DR before I get surgery ! They said that if you have a private room a friend/family member can stay in the room with you. I don't think you can if you are sharing a room with someone. They also said that if you are sharing a room, you also share a phone. Good luck! Pam
