Been home 2 days now...
Hi All,
Just an update on how I am doing. I am 5 days post op (open RNY 8/19/04) and I am doing and feeling great. My spitting problem went away Sunday night. I am getting all my fluids down pretty easy. I am walking some out in our fields. I really am surprised on how good I feel. I do get exhausted quickly but I guess that is to be expected. The percocet is great but makes me sweat a lot but lets me . I start full liquids with protein on Thursday and am anxious to see how that goes. I can't wait for my 2 week appt. to take out the last JP drain. I can only imagine that will make me feel even better. I still feel hunger pains though and those food commercials really still bother me so far! I thought I wouldn't get hungry. Is this normal? I thought the surgery would take away food cravings. Let me know what you think. So far I have lost 7 pounds. I have convinced myself not to get on the scale more than once a day. It really messes with your head. Thats all for now...thanks for listening. Best wishes to all,
Janet M
Hi Janet,
Welcome to the "losing" side!!
You mentioned "commericals" bothering you... well I think that is why the remote control was invented so you can turn the channel when commercials appear. I have been doing just that for years... so much so that my husband (who when he is home is remote control "king") and I will be watching a show and a commercial comes on that I have never seen and I will laugh or make a comment to him about it. Of course he has seen it many times and finds it hard to believe that I never have...it's funny really. He works second shift so my tv time in the evening is alone.... well... me and my remote lol So now you know how to "fix" that tv commerical problem... grab the remote.. plus it's good finger exercise.. ha.. ok.. maybe not
Good luck with your "journey" to a healthier YOU !!
Cindy
Hi Janet, I agree it sounds like you are doing great. The hunger pains get less and less. It is hard right now because you are not chewing. But once you get on soft and solid foods the hunger pains come less and less. I know that I use to think they were crazy when they said, I just forget to eat. But it is true. Sometimes I do just forget to eat. Best of luck. Keep us posted.
Hi Janet,
I have been home since Sunday. I have the same problems you have but they took my drain out before I went home. I had surgery on the 18th. I remember you. We had a blood test done on the same day. Then I was the one dragging the IV pole around at fast speeds all hours of the night. I go back Monday for my check up. As of today I have lost 16 lbs.
Good Luck and email me if you want
