Dr. Kligman leaving area!

I just found out today that Dr. Kligman is leaving the Toledo area. I just got approved and was supposed to have my first appointment on the 27. I am more than a little disappointed. I don't even know where to begin to find a new Doctor. They recommended A Dr. Patrick White. Does anyone know anything about him. Does he do the RNY gastric by-pass? Any information would be appreciated. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Dr. Kligman patients who are just as disappointed as I am.

I don't know Dr. White, but I saw Dr. Owesis and Dr. Duckett in Maumee. They do the Lap Band Surgery, if you are interested in checking that surgery out. Sorry to hear he is leaving. He was one of only 4 Dr.'s my insurance would let me see, but I decided to go with the Lap Band instead. Kathy

I am sorry Melinda that your surgeon is leaving the area. There are a couple dr.'s in bowling green at the fulton county hospital that you might try. Also the two that were mentioned at St. Lukes' that do the lap band. I, myself, had the lap band done there by Dr. Duckett in June of this year and am very pleased with it. I orginally was going to have the RNY myself, but because of some things that came up, I, too, was having a hard time finding a dr. when I heard about the lap band. I then went to their monthly meeting and made a appointment after it to see the dr. If you want more information regarding their monthly informational meeting let me know. Whatever you decide to do.. don't give up. Having been approved already things will go faster for you next time. Where is Dr. Kligman going to?? Also, did you see the post regarding the toledo support group on the Ohio page?? (posted by Margo) We would love to have you, maybe some of the people there would have some ideas to help you find a dr. Cindy

I met Dr. White about 2 yrs ago when Dr. Richards left Toledo. He's been a surgeon for over 20 yrs and knows his stuff, I'm not sure how long he's been doing LAP surgery's though. He was my choice until (waahh) I got my approval and his office had stopped taking Medicaid the end of April. If they were, I'd be going there still, instead of traveling to Cincy, but I also know that that decision was a very good one for me. Dr. White, looks a bit like a mad scientist, (lol) but he is very knowledgable. Cathy his nurse is awesome, I've known her for about 3 yrs now.

When is Dr. Kligman supposed to be leaving MCO? I just had my 6mo follow up the last week of july and nothing was mentioned then. Just curious He sure will be missed.

Melinda, I don't know what kind of insurance you have. I can only add that I had my surgery at the Barix Center in Yipsilanti, MI. It is about 45 minutes north of Toledo. I had a great experience there and would recommend them in a heart beat. If I can be of any help please feel free to email me. Best of luck whatever you decide to do.

I also just had my 6 month follow-up (8/24) with Kligman...that's when I found out. He's leaving for Maryland. If you are a patient you'll be getting a letter soon with information. He told me he hasn't worked out yet how he's going to deal with future "aftercare" and follow-ups. Also, I found out from Kristi at his office that the Sept. 14th support group meeting IS on. And I'm sure he'll have some more info. by then as well. As for Dr. White...I "believe" he does Open RNY...but I'm not sure if he does Lap. He was one of the Doctors on my list back in 11/02 but his office wasn't taking any new patients for quite a while...they called me just this past June to see if I was still interested and of course I told them I'd had it done already (2/16). Melinda I really feel for you...I know the frustration has to be overwhelming...but hang in there...I'm sure you'll find a solution. God Bless you in your journey.
