BMI over 50
Okay, my question is I have a bmi over like 52, I am 46 yrs. old. I am all set to have the rny and then I hear that the ds might be a better way to go with my bmi over 50. What do you all think? I researched the rny to a great length and am just waiting on insurance now, but now I'm concerned, so if anyone has had a bmi over 50 PLEASE let me know what you had done and the results, Thanks so much. Also what's happened to all the action on the OH board????
hi Connie,
I am 43, and had the lap band done on june 16th of this year. I was the largest bmi that my surgeon had done to date... higher then yours.... and I am very pleased with my surgery. As of two weeks ago I have lost 44 pounds. I feel better then I have in years. Good luck to you whichever surgery you decide to go with! Cindy
Hi Connie, My bmi was over 50 before the surgery. My doctor asked me to lose weight for the surgery. He was willing to do the open rny but because of my work, I could not be off that long. I really wanted the lap rny.(That is the surgery where they use the scope and there is not a large incision.) I lost 30 lbs and brought my bmi under 50. The rny is a possibility for you. Do not give up. Best of luck. I agree where is every body in Ohio lately.
