I'm Post Op! HELP!

I'm six days post op. I need to know if this is normal? I constantly feel full, even when I haven't had anything to eat. It's preventing me from eating and drinking my minimum requirements because it's so uncomfortable to eat or drink. I've been trying to limit use of pain-killers because I've been feeling pretty good, but notice it seems like I can tolerate food better when I've loaded up on the pain meds. When I do eat, I'm tolerating it pretty well. All bodily output functions are working well. So, is this common? Is there a correlation between taking the meds and feeling more able to tolerate food/water? I called and left message for doc's nurse yesterday and she hasn't called back. Should I be worried? Thanks!

Perfectly normal! To be honest, I wasn't hungry for nearly 3 weeks after surgery, and I just focused on getting as much of my fluids--anything I could drink that was sugar free-- in as possible, which basically involved taking a sip every few minutes. As for eating, I just did a couple of tablespoons of soft foods at a time; mashed potatos and SF applesauce, as well as SF popsicles and SF jello were staples. Don't worry~ everything you are experiencing is a part of the process. Your little tiny pouch is still very sensitive and tender; it will get easier with time. Take care! I am 6 weeks post op and you dont feel like doing much eating at all. Are you still on liquids. If not just try to get a shake down in the morning and sip on fluids all day. You can only do what you can .Dont worry it will all come together soon. I am allowed to half a half of a cup and I still cant do that. Dont overdo or you will throw up. It will all come to you in time because you have to learn your pouch. Sounds stupid but its true. I still get sick and Dr. Curry says not to worry yet and Im 6 weeks. Good luck,Cindy

I agree with everything the above have said. Your pouch is still swollen from surgery. Give it time. It does get easier and easier. Keep pushing the liquids. Best wishes. Sounds like you are doing that anyway.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. After hearing from you, I've been trying to shift my focus more towards getting in my liquids and not so much worrying about the protein for now. Thanks again!
