lap band
I used to be anti-lap band, but after the latest ASBS meeting, there is some convincing data that in selected patients it may be the procedure of choice.
I cannot ignore the solid data that is out there on banding, so I will begin offering this procedure in October/November of this year.
Just wanted to let everyone know as we have had a lot of inquiries.

Hi Dr. Curry,
Great news on the lap band. I was wondering if you do revisions? My huband had his stomach stapled back in the mid 80's, and it didn't hold. He didn't have any kind of support back then, from anyone. I have recently had the lap band done, but the Dr. that did mine is not doing revisions. We have looked locally (toledo) and have had no luck. We (he ) is willing to travel ... if a good dr. was found. I told him about how you supported people even here on this website, so he asked me if I'd ask you. Thanks for your time, and reply. Cindy
I do VBG revisions and revisions of Roux-en-Y's when there is a defined problem (such as a non-transected pouch and the staples came out).
I don't do revisions on Roux's with normal anatomy, as I'm not sure what there could be to revise...

Thank you for you quick response. My husband is at work now.. he works second shift. But I do know he did NOT have any of his intentines removed. (or bypassed) He just had staples in his stomach to make a smaller pouch section. I am not sure what it was actually called. I am sure that the staples didn't hold.... and he is using his whole stomach when he eats. (he can eat alot). Does this help any? I would love if he could have the lap band done. Is that a possiblity? I am sure you'd want him to have a baruim swollow to see exactly what is going on with his stomach. Maybe I shouldn't be saying he needs a revision.... but since he had stomach surgery before I thought that is what it would be. Thanks again for your time. If the lap band is not a possiblilty for him, what could he have done? Cindy
