Obesity Help Support Group

Are there any official Obesity Help support groups in Ohio? If so, where are they located and when do they meet? Cheryl

Hi Cheryl! We have a great support group here at OSU. We have two a month. The first and third wednesday's. The first one of the month is geared toward pre and post ops, and people thinking about surgery, the second one is geared for those of us 6 months + and out. HOWEVER...you can go to which ever you like. We always have a professional speaker, and the turn out is good. Lots of support. I have the info flyer I can email to you if you want to send me your address. It has the dates and topics on it. It is held at the Camera Center on Kenny Rd. on the West Campus of OSU. If you want better directions, call 293-2888. I am not sure which prompt to hit. I know Shannon Surber is the program director and her prompt is #3. I am really directionally impaired so I wouldn't be the best at giving directions! I am lucky to find my way home most days! I would love to see you there! I will be at the next one. I don't know about my hubby. He just went back to work and his schedule is a little screwy right now. Val

As far as I know, they are open to anybody! I can double check with Shannon, but I'll bet my bottom dollar on it being open to anyone! Val

I have been to a few of the OSU meetings, the problem is that they are so late in the evening and I have to get up for work. Really I was wondering if there were any Obesity Help sponsered groups though, have you heard of any in Ohio?

I haven't heard of any. I know what you mean. They start at 7, and supposed to end at 8, but I get chatty and don't make it home until close to 9pm sometimes! If you hear of any others let us know. I will keep an eye out too! Val

I would really like to see a support group on the East side. My pastor had this surgery and so have some others that attend there. It is a fairly large church. I bet I could finagle a spot to meet there. Just a thought. ~~Jaimee

Cheryl, We are currently organizing a WLS support group in Toledo area. Too far away for you probably. But it is starting and we are currently looking for a permenant place to meet.

Will you go through this site and make it an offical Obesity Help support group? Cheryl
