Introductions--Roll Call--Sound Off
yes--back when they were initally asking for volunteers-- i filled out the questionnaire or whatever- and maybe didn't toot my own horn enough--or maybe cuz i don't LIVE in detroit???have lots of experience coordinating huge events....in another life -
anyhow- it's understandable that they maybe spread too thin this year....
too bad tho--i think the detroit one would have been very well attended--the michigan board is quite active and we from toledo area aren't far! and then there's jack.....
Hi Cheryl,
I am PJ (52 yo) and pre op until Sept 2, 2004. I can't wait! The best thing I have done this year so far is decide to have wls and get involved with a local support group called The Midwest Losers/imnotfatanymore.com. I have made so many new friends who are so kind and understanding. They have really been a joy to be with and helped make my journey so much easier. I really love and appreciate them!
My surgeon is Dr. Curry at Deaconess Hosp. and he has been terrific too. I am just crazy about his staff! I can't wait to be on the losing side.
Thanks for the post!
PJ
Sept 2, 2004
Hi everyone!
I am Jenny, or Jen. I am from Columbus. I had my surgery on June 24, 2004, at OSU with Dr. Mikami, who was awesome! So far, I have lost about 44 pounds in almost 7 weeks. I have gone from 318 pounds to 274. After my surgery I was doing great (at my checkup Dr. Mikami said I was a model patient). One week later, on July 26, I passed out and was admitted to the hospital with pulmonary embolisms-blood clots in the lungs. But, the great doctors at OSU have taken care of all of that, and I am back on track with everything. I love this board and all of the info and people I have talked with. I would like to start going to the OSU support groups-like Cheryl, I think it would be cool to meet people in person who have gone through the same experience(s) you have.
I haven't done much this summer, due to the surgery and other problem, but I have definitely enjoyed losing weight and feeling better. I hope to be able to do more and more every single day!!
Jenny
Hi my name is Krista I so hope to lose weight like you I dont know what I weigh because I quite checking so I am sure it is in the 250 range by now. I live in Cincinnati and I would love to get to know people here and make some new friends. But I am not very good at it. Just a little shy. Ok well alot shy so this is a big risk for me just to reply. My dream is to be small and outgoing. Nice to meet you
Krista
Krista, I know exactly what you mean about not checking your weight. It get to the point that you just do not want to know. I know there are some good support groups in the Cincinnati area, you should just contact some of the people that posted above. No need to be shy here, we won't let let you be shy anyway. Just jump right in and start asking questions. Remember, this is the start of your NEW life, so things will need to be done differently. Cheryl
My name is Lisa Matthews, I am pre-op and waiting for approval. I did get a little frustrated last week and I posted it and everyone was so kind to send me encouragement. Presently, I weigh 259 the biggest I have been in my lifetime. My favorite thing this summer was to go visit my daughter and her family in California. Boy did we have a good time. This is my second time and I finally convinced my husband to go, we had a lot of fun and also spent two days in a resort in Vegas. I'll be glad when I'm on the lossing side. God Bless.
