Well sisters and brothers of AMOS, I've gotta tell you I have come to the end of my rope many times in the past 5 years trying to have WLS and to get healthy, It has been 1 road block after another. I was ready to quit just give up many many times. But my friends here would tell me, "don't you dare." So I've just been staying behind the scenes here, doing profiles (over 500 now, btw) and biding my time always working towards the goal. I sit here now with tears running down my face.... They are happy tears... I am FINALLY APPROVED for surgery! Now I just have to schedule with a surgeon.. who's good? In Ohio? That takes Medicaid? w/o a forever waiting list?

OMG Vickie I have followed your journey and I am so happy for you! I know how frustrating it has been!!! I don't remember where you are. Dr. Curry has an excellent program and accepts medicaid. He doesn't have too long a waitiing list either. Right now he is still scheduling for September. Best wishes!!! PJ sept 2, 2004

Vickie, congratulations! I'm from KY but have choosen Dr. Maguire in Kettering for my surgery. I've heard good stuff about him plus his practice is one of the few in the US that does the BPD/DS as well as the RNY. And since I only wanted the BPD/DS, he is my guy! You might want to check him out if you're close to Dayton. -joanne

Vickie, I am so happy for you that I didn't know which emoticon to use so, I used all the good ones. How exited you must be. I have been trying for about 2 years now and like you, I also wanted to give up. Aren't you glad you didn't? Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery and I will be keeping up with your continued journey. Sherry

Hi, Vickie! (celebrating with you) Your post gave me goosebumps. I'm so thrilled for you! Since I'm just starting my whole process, I can't recommend a doctor who takes Medicaid. I've started my process through Dr. Kerlakian, but I don't know whether or not he takes Medicaid. I've heard wonderful things about Dr. Curry, so if you can get him, go for it! I'm just so glad your persistence paid off. See? Good things happen to good people. Won't it be exciting to update YOUR profile? Good luck to you, and most of all, God Bless! Sheila

I am so happy for you Vicky. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago tomorrow. Dr. Curry was the one I picked out of three. He is a fantastic surgeon,Very helpful and he really cares about you. The rooms you stay in at Deaconess are perfect.Large rooms and they are all private. Its a very small hospital and not real loud, well not loud at all. No noise at night and y ou can really rest. Hes wonderful,at least go for a consultation, Cindy by the way, where do you live?
