New to board- introduction
Hi I read your response and I am in the same boat.I only lost 22 lbs and its been 3 weeks. The problem is I lost all that 8 days ago. I get on my scale and its always the same. I am a little discouraged. I am 55 and have about 90 more pounds to come off and I feel like they wont. I have always been a very slow loser. Any advice? Cindy
Cindy like I said I havent gotten surgery done yet but dont stress over a couple of days delay. Look at the long term projection to get a real Idea of how much your loosing instead of just the fact that you havent lost in two or 3 weeks. Generally in any weight loss program you dont need to start stressing about being stuc****il 6 weeks with no loss or a gain. 22lbs a month is 264lbs a year I dont think your loosing too horribly slow ;)
Sometimes your body just has to take a little break between loosing streaks.
You guys are awesome. Thanks for the great advice and suggestion. I am most interested in the barix clinic but honestly I just dont have the money to do everything out of pocket. Assuming no complications how much does the surgery usually cost.
I assumed it was between 15-25k since my insurance covers 50% upto 15k. I am going to be getting a consult as soon as I can then it will be however long till I can raise the money. I am going to be ebaying my little heart out to save money for this (and if I decide not to do this which I am not thinking is likely at this point at least I have a nice downpayment for a house).
ok-money-haha! wish i had some!
my surgery at barix cost me -out of pocket 2500 cuz they are out of network...my ins is med mut and they paid 80%
the surgery total was around 50k....ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i was there from friday to sunday
i don't know cost at other places- and while i am in no position to throw money away and maybe barix is pricey--i still wanted what i considered the best in all around care- deals can be horrid- slap ya later!
good luck and keep posting!
oh-great attitude about the down payment!
cindy- i well understand your frustrations---but---
did you take measurements with a tape measure before your surgery? i'll bet you will see changes there already!
are you getting your fluids in???
are you able to do any exercise or walking?
what are you doing about protein?
at three weeks out your bod is still trying drastically to figure out what the heck you did to it!!!!!! and you are limited in what you can eat/do as exercise etc./....whatever you do--listen to your doc and their nutritionist.....
your weight will come off if you work with your tool and your doc....patience is a virtue that i never possessed --and i am learning many others going thru wls don't either!
stay off the scale if that's what it takes--it can be your worst enemy!!!! your body will go thru changes --some slow and some more rapid....
hang in there!
is it maybe a temperature thing? i could not drink very cold at first but i could do sf popsicles..go figure! so i would drink decaf green tea hot --was soothing--i also couldn't drink much at a time- now i can chug -but shouldn't!
if you do sf popsicles or sf jello that counts as a fluid- or tea or soups(not creamed )
i know that at about 3-4 weeks out i got real frustrated cuz i felt like i was constantly putting either pills fluids or protein into my mouth--that settled a bit soon after
were you shown "how" to drink? i was by a nurse- makes sense--i didn't realize how i inhale thru my nose when i drink--she took 6 little medicine cups and filled them with water- said before you drink one -exhale-then drink but do not inhale as you are drinking--it works! keeps air from filling your pouch!
it will get better!!!
