I just got back from my pcp and I found out my liver enzymes are high, I knew they were 20yrs. ago, but nobody has mentioned it since. Of course this is a new dr. and I'm glad she's so through, but I'm scared this might not let me have surgery. She is however having an ultrasound done of my liver this Thursday and has already made an appointment with a specialist just in case it needs to be addressed further. Has anyone else had this???? My ekg was fine though and I go for my sleep study Sunday. So you all PLEASE keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks Connie

Hi Connie! My DH has had elevated liver enzymes going on 2 years now. Every 6 months or so, his PCP orders new labs, DH goes in 2 weeks later, gets the results and goes for a test. The only thing left for him is a biopsy. Tuesday he goes for his 3rd appointment with a liver specialist to get labs results, yet again. He did say, after being assured DH had never tasted alcohol so it couldn't be from that, nor been around anyone with hepatitis, that some folks just have a fatty liver. They see it in folks who are overweight, and those who are not. I will keep you in my thoughts and hope that it's nothing serious. ~Shelly

Husband had the same problem - did the nuclear ultrasound and then a biopsy only to find that it was a fatty liver caused by obesity. What the doc's told us was that there were too many instances where patients were being opened up only to find that their liver was diseased and were closed up without having the gastric bypass done. These additional tests are to avoid that happening to you. Good luck.
