My surgery was cancelled....

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to thank everyone for all the support for my upcoming surgery on the 29th. But to my dismay it has beem cancelled due to some results from the pre-admission testing. The main problem it turns out I am extremely anemic. I don't have enough red blood cells I guess which provides oxygen to the rest of my body.....I kinda quit listening after they said "no surgery"! It will be another month at least or longer before my hemoglobin is in the normal range for surgery. I still have to go Monday for an endoscopy which I am dreading. Needless to say I am very disappointed and depressed. I just thought the fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, rapid heart rate was from being fat! Who knew! The doctors are putting me on iron and progesterone and will recheck my blood in a month. So now I wait some more........ Janet

Hi Janet, My heart goes out to you about the postponement (that is my fear since I go for preop labs on Tuesday and surgery the following Tuesday). I know you are disappointed but hopefully the treatment you receive will help you feel a bit better and it will definitely reduce you risk when you do have surgery (which you will). So concentrate on improving your health and time will fly. Hang in there
