Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illionois

Anyone have this insurance? Do they really hold you to the six month medically supervised diet? I took the time to write a letter of about 40 pages and sent it certified to them asking that they except my 36 years of diet and excercise history along with reciepts from Weigh****chers and I also xeroxed covers from my many diet books and also the covers of the many excercise tapes and systems I have used over the years where I made my journey from 126 to 254lb. Do you think this will help with my approval?

I have BCBS also and it only took 2 1/2 weeks for approval. I had to have a 3 year wieght history, letter from my pcp saying they supported me, My proof of other wieght loss attemps. Wiegh****cher, kick boxing ect. health history. Proof of co-morbitity. that was it I had 3 letters from 3 differant doctor supporting it, all my reciepts from programs I had tried, health history from my PCP doctor and my workers comp. Doctor. It was easy, They requested no extra information and I was approved. If you call them they will tell you what you need. Once you get that all together then it should be ok. Have you contacted them to see if it is a covered treatment? that should be your first step if you have they should have told you then what you needed that's when I found out. Also it may depend on your employer. I use to take merida and our insurance covered it than one day when I went to get it filled they didn't so I called and they said the employer chose not to cover wieght loss any more. because the employer covers a % of the coverage premium they can pick whatt ehy want the policy to cover or not. so make sure it is a covered treatment before you get all worried about getting approved or you have done it all for nothing
