? for Dr. Curry please.......

Dear Dr. Curry, I had a VBG 10 years ago and have just been approved for a conversion to a RNY. My surgeon told me that it has to be done open and not lap. Is this true? Are there any other problems I might encounter that I should be aware of? I am getting nervous now that I am about to get a date for surgery. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give me. There are probably a few surgeons who would attempt it lap. Personally, I wouldn't though. Dr. C
