Ques about Throwing up
I am 5 weeks post op and on Sat I started to have alot of drainage from my sinus - I dumped on Friday. Ever since I get nausea when they drain into my stomach to the point I throw up clear flem. I went to my PCP and she is starting me on a nasel antiphistamine - thinks I might have allergies. I use to get this every summer but it never bothered me. I am so tired of throwing up! It is always clear - no food, but I am afraid. I am back to work PT and this is really tiring me out. Any suggestions?
I went through the same thing. I got a head cold a couple weeks post-op. I was dumping from the drainage really badly. I did have to go back on clear liquids because of the irritation from throwing up and the draining. I got Clarinex from my doctor to clear up my allergies, too. That might help. Until then, just stick to clear liquids. And trust me, it'll get better.

Debby,
I have post-nasal drip build up and cough and gag some clear phlegm up every morning. Most times it gets my gag reflex going and I vomit, too.
I take Clairitin now and it seems to help a little.
Here's a little note: If the vomitting continues, ask your pcp to have your potassium/magnesium levels checked (blood test) - I
ended up back in the hospital from dehydration and low potassium. I'm doing great now but I kept calling my surgeon's office complaining about all this vomitting and no one ever suggested I get a potassium check (you lose potassium when you vomit or have diarrhea) After I keeled over in my kitchen and was admitted to the hospital it was found that my potassium level was only 2.2 (3.5 is good)
Take good care of yourself. Donna
