Dr. Needleman?
Dr Needleman is wonderful , from what I understand. He has been featured on CBS (channel 10 in Cols) this week with one of his patients talking about the great payoffs of WLS. It's a segment they run throughout the day called Medical Minute (i think ???) There is a HUGE wait list for him to perform surgery. I went with Dr Muscarella last week at OSU and he was wonderful also. Have you gotten your packet from the OSU Bariatric Surgery Office yet?

I have my pre-op consult w/ him next week.
They told me they would schedule the surgery within one month of the consult date. I'm counting on a July date .....I hope they aren't too far behind schedule!
I have only met with him briefly one other time and he seemed very nice.
Thank you all for your input!
How long did it take to get your consult appt, after you had insurance approval and all the other stuff done? I am just waiting to hear from his office. It has been about 3 wks since they received the approval from my insurance company. I am so anxious. Good Luck on your appt. I hope my day comes soon. Take care Renee
Hi, Renee -
My approval was sent to his office on April 18. At that point, I had completed all pre-testing and was 1/2 through the 4 week education sessions @ OSU.
I called mid-May to check on the status and was told they were backed up and that I should hear from them in two weeks. True to their word, I got a letter at the end of May w/ the consult date.
So....It was about a 2.5 month wait from approval to consult.
BTW - I'm a lapband patient, so I don't know if that changes the wait in any way.
Good luck!!!
Hi, I too have heard great things about Dr. Needleman, I am hoping to have him do mine. I have sent in the app., and have a appointment for the dietican, on the 29th of this month, already have my shrink appointment for Monday, and plan on attending the seminar on July 1st. so let me know how your doing...I want to be in a real hospital..and OSU is great.
he did my lap rny in jan,4th 2002, i have lost 146 lbs and he is wonderful i would let him operate on me at my kitchen table if i had to his follow up is very good too. now i have a question is osu still excepting patients on medicaid i have 2 friends that need this surgery and they are on medicaid, if they are i will call and have osu send them a packet to fill out. for myself this is the best thing i could have done for myself, every minute of wait and classes and the pain from surgery is diffentily worth it
