Not sure what to do???
My ins company wants me to be on a year suppervised diet.Okay but I am not sure if they expect me to lost alot of weight or what. I have been doing this for 4 mo now and have lost only 8lb`s I know it isnt alot. But I have a very bad knee that dosnt let me do to much more than work. Will they turn me down for not enouth weight loss?? Help!!!!
Michelle,
If its anything like the other insurance companies, they just want to see documentation you "attempted" to lose and what diet(s) you tried. I recall one person said that they supervised diet goal was NOT to lose and I've seen another person post that she lost too much weight and had been denied.

Michelle,
What they are looking for is compliance, meaning you show up to your appointments, stick to the plan, and lose some weight. If you can do this, then chances are you'll do well with WLS. If you miss half your appointments and gain 50 lbs while you're on the plan, it's a different story.
It's amazing how many people who want WLS don't get this, I have probably a 1/3 no-show rate in my office. It can be very frustrating when you show up to see patients at 9:00 and the first three 30 minute appointments no-show.
