Hello, Question for anyone out there who has wisdom to share: I was uninsured for the past 5 years and I cannot "prove" via records that I have been morbidly obese that long. Because of that, and living at poverty-level, I was also not able to participate in medically-supervised programs or even things like Physician's Weight Loss. I am terrified I will be denied by my current insurance: Med Mutual (Classic). I asked the secretary at the Center where I'm scheduled for the Consult and she simply said they'll send a letter in with what they do submit. After reading some postings here, I am pretty depressed and unoptimistic. I don't have very many pictures either. I live alone and don't even own a camera. What can I do? Also, since MM has the $10,000 cap, that means patients pay the difference? Does this have to paid up front? Thank you so much!

Hello Trish, I wish I could help you. I also didn't have any documented weight history...I just never went to the doctor. I did have about 12 "dated" pictures over the past 10 years showing my weight....that was about it....I had a letter from my PCP recomending the surgery. I used to have Medical Mutual in 2003 and then I changed to Qualchoice in 2004. I didn't like Medical Mutual. I was approved with Qualchoice in just 2 days with the little information that I had. I wish you the best of luck and think positive and everything will be OK. BTW.....I also live in Parma. Take care, ROGER OPEN RNY 4-22-04
