Anyone Use Vocation Rehabilitation Services?
Hey Everyone. I posted this over the weekend, but didn't get much response, so I'm going to try it again. Sorry for repeating myself, lol.
I had my first meeting Friday with the Vocational Rehab Service to try and get some funding for my surgery. I have seen several people post who have gotten assistance from this agency (although I can't remember from what state), and now I need some help from you. The lady I spoke with said this is a totally new area for her, that she has never had (or heard of) anyone asking for aid for WLS. She was very nice, and appeared eager to help, and told me if I could get any verification that the OHIO Voc Rehab Service has assisited with this in the past, it would be very helpful to have that information before she went forward with my application. Have any of you out there gotten assistance from this agency? I would sure be greatful if you'd let me know, either here, or by emailing me. Thanks so much, La
Hi,
I really am trying to help you with this I promise I am lol. Here is a web site of someone from another state who has VR paying for their surgery. Maybe it will help. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=parker979867456

LOL, PJ, you are a doll! I'm compiling as many cases as I can find to take to my councilor. I think the more ammunition I have, the better my chances. I have three so far (from different states, but still it shows Voc Rehab DOES assist with this,) and I'm going to kee on pushing on!
Thanks for the help! MUAH
I think it's a good idea to get info from other states, but remember that each state's VR is separate from each other. I know this would be a lot of work but do you think it would be possible to get a list of the VR offices in Ohio and call them to find out if they have paid for WLS. I though I would think they would have that info in a central database. But even if they haven't show them the other state's info and hope you can be the first! Have you applied for any type of social security? With that you could get Medicaid.
