I know what you mean. even though I'm approved I haven't gotten my date yet. So it's not in that much of a perspective for me. It's like if I knew my date I would be able to quit...but I'm making excuses. I say just do it! when you want one stop and think first. Is it worth it. Stay busy. do something else. Good luck!

I quit a few years ago. I was a 2+ pack a day smoker. I used the nicotine patch. Frankly - I used it the entire time they suggest and went through all three steps. After the first week it was no problem. During the first week - when I was going nuts I would chew a tiny bit of nico gum (just enough to make the intense craving go away.) This lessened each day to where I didn't even notice. I'll never ever be sorry I quit, even though I gained some weight. Utilize the tools out there, I know you'll have great success. I also utilized www.quitnet.com Good Luck to you both! -Anne

Hi Kim, I too have had to quit smoking.. What I did, was I went on the Patch.. I was in it full strength for almost 4 weeks. My insurance requires that I see a pulmonologist, so I went, and put my on the Nicotrol inhaler. I used that when I wanted a cig. I used it with the patch for one day and two days later, I was off them both... I know how hard it is.. it has been one of the hardest things you'll have to do for this survery.. BUT WE CAN DO THIS!!!! Congrates on what you've accomplished so far.. Steph May this little fairy grant all your wishes

OHHH!! I had my LAST cig February 9, 2004, at 9:15 am I put it out. I told myself that was it. Had major eating binges, gained 25 lbs to date!! I hate the weight gain, but really glad to be off them. I have told myself, never again, it's way too hard to quit!! I chewed gum till my jaws ached, and drank lots of water! I quit drinking my diet pepsi the same time, as it was a trigger for a cig. Good Luck! If I can do it, so can you!! Good Luck!!
