Need understanding PCP Near Delaware
I need some help finding an understanding PCP. I am new to this area, living in southern Delaware County. My previous PCP was very understanding about WLS, but left the practice to work in the Hospital. Her associate took over her patients, but on my first visit to him, when I mentioned WLS, his only comment was "I only had one patient do that, and it took forever to get approved." My surgeon said I needed to be on a "medically supervised weight reduction program" for six months before my insurance will approve any surgery and this PCP said, "I don't know what he means by that...have him send me a letter." Both of these remarks were with an attitude. HENCE, the reason for looking for another PCP. My husband and I both would prefer a woman (DH says they are more understanding). ANY recommendations in this regard would be GREATLY appreciated.
My PCP is Jonathan Thorne in Columbus. I know there is a female in the practice, but I don't know her. I know that I wouldn't trade Dr. Thorne away for any amount of money. Both my husband and myself go to him.
He's behind me 110% for my surgery.
Here's his office info, if you are interested.
Central Ohio Medicine - 810 Jasonway Ave - Suite B- Columbus
614-442-7550
His office is located off of Bethel Road which is off of 315.

I live in Marion Ohio and my physician is behind me 110% as well
and he is very thorough he all ready performed all the necessary tests for me and gave me the results and the letter of medical necessity before I even had my consultation so my surgeon gave me instant ok on surgery and said he would be calling with a date in June
my physicians name is Dr. Joshi (however he is a man but very nice but for diets he sends you to a female nutritionist and he still weighs you in so it meets the requirements for the insurance)
Dr Raj Kumar Joshi, MD
1728 Marion-Waldo Road
Marion, Ohio 43302
740- 389-2427
so the doctor is a man but a woman would follow the diet
It would be a little drive for you, but my PCP is Dr. E. Legg in Lithopolis (Southeast of Columbus). He has several WLS patients and he is great. I see him every 3 months for blood work and he is very caring and understanding. He was also very helpfull in documenting everything I needed to meet my Aetna requirements.
I wouldn't trade him for the world. I don't know if it matters to you or not, I know it didn't to me as I'm not a religous person, but the practice (Tri-County family Physicians) is a Christian practice. They don't shove it down your throat or anything like that - just little signs/displays here and there - nothing showy, but I do think it makes a difference in how they treat their patients.
