Post-op Restrictions
Hey this question is for any post-ops... I was wondering exactly what your diet restrictions are like a year after the surgery. I've been told NO sweets, carbonated drinks and no fat. Do you all go by this or have any of you 'cheated'? And if you've cheated what exactly happens (cramping?) ?
Thanks much!

I am 1 year and 1 week post-op, lol. I can eat just about anything I want to. I can eat sugars, nothing over about 5 grams per serving though. I drink sugar sweetened tea everyday and that is about all of the sugar I can have at once.
I no longer have the 'full' feeling for very long. It takes a lot of self control to not over-eat. If I do, its too late and I suffer with a very heavy feeling in my tummy. I tried French toast this morning and ended up on the potty within 15 minutes. I used SF syrup too. Its still a learning process. I can tolerate all meats. I can tolerate pasta, although I don't eat them often because they trigger other cravings.
I have taken a few sips of pop, but it all tastes nasty to me now. I'm afraid to drink the diet because I know I'll want it all the time.
I do have fat in my diet. I have had to add fat to my diet just this week. Apparently, I wasn't eating enough and was going overboard on the protein. I've had to add carbs to my diet too.
I can eat about a cup of food at a time, maybe a little more some days. I have learned to measure everything I eat. If I want Cheez-Its, I measure a half cupful so I don't graze on them. When that half cup is gone, I'm done, even if I want more. I'm not super strict on myself. If I want something, I have it, only in moderation. If I deny myself of anything, I'll get to the point where when I finally do give in, I go overboard and have way too much of it just because I feel denied.
Hope that helped!
