Any post-ops experience numbness?
Hi Folks,
I am 4 months out and ocassionaly experience numbness in my back shoulder blades and it radiates to my arms. Does not last for more than a minute or so. I have not had any difficulties with this surgery but I was wondering if this numbness could be some type of side effect? I had my surgery w/Dr. Needleman @OSU and I am down 73lbs. I am to see Dr. Needleman June 6 I was going to mention it to him then or should I worry now?
thanks,
Karie
Karie,
you know what I have had that as well-mainly just my shoulder blade area--left side to be spoecific. It idoesnt go totally numb just that tingle but when I rub there I can tell it doesnt feel normal.
NO CLUE what it may be but I never have thought too much about it. I thought it was me being wierd!
Let me know if the Dr is concerned-so I can throw myslef into a panic attack-
I was going to also suggest having your B-12 checked I have pernicious anemia (which is a b-12 deficiency) I have not had the surgery yet but I used to have the tingleing and it is one symptom of the deficiency
just a suggestion not a diagnosis
but after beginning injections of b-12 it went away
it is only a simple blood test and couldn't hurt
besides my surgeon said that vitamin deficiencys are common after WLS
or maybe it was just a RNY not sure but worth checking out
trying not to enter misleading info
pulling from memory
but it is really a symptom of b-12 deficiency but could also be something else
but please do not ignore and ask your doctor
