Waiting on insurance approval
I am new to the messages boards, I have been waiting to hear if I am approved to have surgery. I have switched insurances and I am praying that it will allow it. Any suggestions would be nicely accepted. I am getting nervous waiting, my husband doesn't see why I want to have this done. I want to feel better about myself and be able to do play with my boys, without having to sit in the middle of a game or walk. Any pointers on how to get things rolling along faster or how to deal with the anticipation of waiting let me know.
Hi Julia. I live in Fairfield so we're practically neighbors. Who is your insurer? If its Aetna, I can tell you that they will require a 6 month physician supervised weight loss program before approving the surgery.
Whoever it is, just be patient (to a point) and keep buggin' the surgeon's office. Try to keep your expectations on an even keel. I got all excited and started making plans and then, wham, Aetna hit me with the requirement.
As for your husband, you will see a lot of posts to the website about how mates react to weight loss. Just take care of yourself and he will soon see the benefits for him in this too.
Good Luck!
Hi,Carol. Thanks for your response, My husband just got transferred from Delphi to General Motors in Mansfield, OH and we just got through changing insurance companies from UNH to Anthem BC/BS, UNH wouldn't approve anything they had some sort of clause against it. So I am hoping that this time everything will go through, cause now it is becoming more of a health factor. I hope that my husband will come around, I know that I would be more healthier and happpier after I have this done. I think that he has some fear factors about me not wanting to be with him. He is wrong but the thought is going to be there. Thank You, write back anytime.
HI Julia,
Your just going to have to be patient with your husband. LOL. I know its a hard thing to do, but eventually he will see that this is a good thing for, as long as you think it is.
As for your insurance, most of the companies now require some sort of supervised 6 month to 2 years Doctor supervised diet. My insurance requires 2 of them. Double check with them and if that is a requirement, I would get started on one right away. Other then that, just make sure your paperwork is in order and send them anything you feel might help the approval process along. Pictures, records, ect..ect...
I wish you the best in your journey.
Hugs
Lori
