Hi, I am new to this and just beginning to jump though all the hoops my insurance company demands....Firtunately i have Cigna PPO and it doesn't look as if i will have to many obstacles....just the 6 month surpervised diet of which i am already 2 months into. Anyhow...My question is i would like to know of anyone from Ohio who has used the BTC in Groveport that are out of network. I would like to know how much of a bill you got stuck with. I have a surgeon and hospital both picked out in PA...closer to my home in Ohio..but i want to be sure i am making the right choice. Both in PA are in netwrok for me and i would not have to pay out mega money for my surgery....Any thoughts from those of you who have had this done at BTC? PS....I accidently posted this message on the main board so to those of you who are reading it again..I apologize...and thanks in advance for any info you might have to help me....Patty

My surgery was done there. The hospital was in network, but the surgeons weren't, so I had to pay $1500 on the day of surgery. Of course I also had to pay my percentage of the pre-op tests, which was only about $200 I think. I would really reccomend BTC to anyone considering. They were fantastic!

Hi Patty, I had my surgery at BTC also.... I have been told that the hospital and docs. are both out of network for my ins. ( when I was first approved...the docs were out of network but the hospital was in-network...my surgery got postponed 2 times so by the time I had the surgery in January my plan had changed!) but I chose to go there anyway...I had my surgery on 1/21/04.... so I dont have final bills yet.... I suspect I'll be paying in the neighborhood of about $2000. ( I pray it isn't much more that that!) I'd do it again at this location in a heartbeat!!! regardless of the cost my experience there was hat great...everyone is so very caring from the docs to the food service and cleaning people! I've had two friends who had it there in prior years and they paid expenses in the $2000 - $4000... range based on insurance companies policies. Hope this helps...and good luck whatever you decide. hi-i just had my surgery two weeks ago tomorrow- so i haven't seen bills yet- i went thru some issues about which location ( between ohio and mich -near me) and ended up in ohio where i started-it was all netowrk out of network stuff- my pockets are not very well lined at this point in life ,but i will deal with the bills when they come in--the staff and everyone there were worth it to me--am also praying it won't be too much but it was worth it to be somewhere where that is all that they do and everyone is so sensitive to the needs of this type of surgery- i had dr.stelmack and i love him but some have trouble understanding him- a new yorker? and not bad on the eyes! wish i could offer $$ amounts -sorry- but i highly recommend them!!!!!!!

I went to BTC in June, 2003 and I have Aetna insurance so both facility and surgeon were out of network for me. I also work with a lady who went there a couple of months before me (same insurance, same facility, different surgeon) and we both had about 1,500 out of pocket for the hospital bill. My surgeons bill was paid in full. I made the decision to go there knowing that they were out of network and realizing that I could end up with thousands of $$ in bills. I was willing to take the chance as I felt they were the absolute best place around (after researching for a year). I was not disappointed. I would go there again in a heartbeat and I highly recommend them to everybody interested in the surgery. I had Dr. Stelmack as a surgeon, but also seen Dr. Choban (no longer there) over the weekend of my surgery and I seen Dr. Vig on one of my follow-ups. Everybody, from the surgeons to the housekeeping people were absolutely fantastic. I believe they do have a payment plan. You may have to pay more to go to BTC, but I believe they are worth every cent. Good Luck.

You will NOT regret having your surgery at BTC in Groveport. I had mine in August of 2003 and they are WONDERFUL. Dr. Stelmack performed my surgery and I recommend him completely. I had complications that required another surgery only 4 days after the first, and I have only praise for both Dr. Stelmack and the nurses at BTC. Of course, the second surgery made the amount I had to pay much higher, but no matter what the cost financially, the surgery was worth it. This surgery works, but if you want TOTAL peace of mind about the care you will receive, BTC in Groveport is the best place to have it done. They specialize in the surgery and the care they provide is exceptional. Many of the nurses have had the surgery or plan to have the surgery so they have more empathy for their patients. If you decide to have it in Groveport, contact me and I'll come to visit you! I have lost over 100 lbs, my diabetes and high blood pressure are gone and my cholesterol dropped 100 points.
