hi guys im new to this site, i found it through spotlight health. anyway, i just needed, well i dont know what im really looking for with this site i guess i just needed to hear from someone else in my situation. my bmi is 40 and i have wanted this surgery for the last 4 years. im on htn, and anti-depression meds plus i take aspirin and i know as well as im sitting here that im pre diabetic (it runs like wild on both sides of my family) im at the point that i have just given up on dieting. my dieting goes back to when my mother had me on diet pills at 6 years of age. ive been on every diet you can name, and several dr. supervised diets. the last straw was when i thought i had it licked a couple of years ago and i lost 60 lbs well, i gained it all back and now i am done with it. i am going to my dr. in 2 weeks to ask for a recommendation in writing for surgery. then ill go from there. ive got anthem bcbs. im just so depressed because i hear and see alot of people getting this done and im happy for them and then i want it so bad but........i think im afraid to go ahead with the steps you have to go through to get this surgery, im terribly afraid that ill get denied and i just cant fail again. i guess im frozen with fear of failing again because ive failed so many times in the past. so i really dont want to bring anyone down but I REALLY NEED SOME ENCOURAGEMENT from someone other than my husband. please somebody answer.

Hun this is the first step, dont give up... this is your choice not your mothers husbands but yours. also a little hint most all insurance companys require a Psychologist test.... do not say u are being treated for depression or that your depressed they will hold you up until you are cleared with Psychologist most make u take a test. which can take a long time...I to was depressed and well still am who is not being over weight.. dont understand why they would not think we are not...but just a way for insurance to stall... good luck.. ask alot of questions before doing anything so we can help speed up things... I have BCBS of Rochester and they approved me a week after they got the info from my insurance office. My BMI was 59, higher than yours but maybe that will help you.

hi there i guess we can hang in there together cause i'm only a few steps ahead of you in this process..in the begining i thought it didn't move fast enough but now that i have my consult appt. its all coming together. I went to my first meeting/luncheon yesterday and was scared to meet everyone thinking they had already lost all their wt. and that i wouldn't fit in. oh boy was i ever wrong. it was wonderful and it validated a lot of the feelings i've been having and calmed me down to move on. sure hope this helps you now i look at it as everyone who is getting this done has doubts and fears but you have to keep reaching and searching till you get the needed support. hey check into imnotfatanymore.com the founder is sandy pierce and she's wonderful good luck sharon schmidtgesling
