4 days left before surgery
Well, the countdown is on....4 days and counting. My surgery is scheduled for 7:30 AM 1/5/04. It has been quite a long time coming. I attended an interest meeting in October, 2002. My first doctor's appointment was at the end of June, 2003. I took with me, to that appointment, the letter from my psychological evaluation. I finally received my letter notifying me of my surgery date in November. Earlier this week, I had the physical exam and final meeting with my doctor, Dr. Keith Gersin, and the class with the dietician. My wonderful husband went with me. He is the most amazing, supportive person...I could not do this without him. I have been anxious, nervous, and generally kind of scared, but he has helped me keep focused. We went shopping today for the foods I will be able to eat after the surgery, and he had me laughing all through the store. He has already started calling me "Skinny". I have been looking through my closet at all the clothes I will be able to wear again....for a while, before I have to buy smaller things. What a joy!! I can only imagine what a pleasure that will be!
All the best to you on your upcoming surgery! Dr. Gersin is the best. Both my husband and I were treated well at University Hospital. I came home in two days, my husband came home the day after surgery! The best thing you can do for yourself is to get moving. Try some coughing and deep breathing in the recovery room (this is not only good for you, but will impress the nurse taking care of you!)
At least you saved your smaller clothes! My husband and I got rid of a lot of stuff after determining we would never be able to lose weight, then decided to have surgery. Now we wonder if we can go buy back our stuff from Goodwill! LOL!
Another tip - I used a smple menu to go by when fixing my "meals". I could never get in all the food I was supposed to eat in a day. It is an amazing surgery!
