Bilirubin in urine?

I had an appointment with my pcp this afternoon. I thought that I may have a urinary tract infection. That was negative in urine test but she did say that there was bilirubin present in my urine. I am going to have blood tests done tomorrow morning. Has anyone else who has WLS had this happen to them? Is it normal? I am scared to death. My brother died three years ago from Liver Cancer so I am thinking the worst. Anyone have any idea what this may mean? I had Open RNY on August 22, 2003. Should I contact my surgeon to let him know what the pcp says? Any advice PLEASE!

I hope this isn't too late to help. Always contact the surgeon's office with any concerns. They should at least be able to tell you whether or not this is something serious or possibly a byproduct of the surgery. I have not had my surgery yet so I am unable to help in that respect. But please keep us posted on what you discover. God bless and good luck. Mary Beth
