It is finally time to have my PCP write to Medicaid regarding my approval for surgery. Do any of you have a copy the letter your Dr. sent in to Medicaid? I am my PCP's first and we want to make sure he says the right things. We both want me approved the first time. My long awaited Dr's seminar is coming up now and I really want to go there with approval in hand so the office will schedule my consult and surgery shortly thereafter. (praying) In the meantime, I called another surgeons office here and asked why they hadn't called me when they began bariatric's when they said they would. *sigh* Any who... If my approval comes back quick, (praying) They are scheduling for NOVEMBER! OMG, if all goes well, I could STILL have this surgery this year. Those that know me, know I have been trying for a very long time. Back to the request, if you do have a copy of what your Dr wrote to the insurance company, please email me @[email protected]. I'm not going to be up here on this site much in the next two weeks (and of course I need it before the 11th) I'm also moving! But I will check my mail periodically. Thank you and God Bless, Vickie

I actually started this process 4+ yrs ago, but keep running into roadblocks along the way. Medicaid was about to approve me last December, but the surgeons office had never sent in for my approval as they had said. Then they stopped bariatric's at their office w/o informing anyone. Just dropped it. My medical files are large, but in all actuality my co-morbidities aren't that much. Should my PCP send them all? Or just the ones pertaining to my co-morbidities? Well I guess my files are large because it's repeat medical problems. Do you think I stand a chance at being approved if all that is wrong with me is: BMI around 50, Edema, Sleep Apnea on C-pap, arthritis, joint pain, asthma, herniated disks, spurs and disk discinigration. Neurologist won't operate until I loose some weight. I use a wheel chair and taking care of my personal hygiene is difficult. My phyciologolist (sp) and my Pulminologist already cleared me for surgery. Oh and I don't have any cholestrol or BP problems, but that does run in my family as does diabetic's. Anyways, my ? is does my PCP send these 800 pages of medical records or just a summary of them? As I said I am his first patient he is trying to gain approval for. And the surgeons office that said I could go in Nov., wasn't B/Sing me, they said IF I get my approval asap, they could schedule me. Some medicaid people get approval in 3 weeks, some 5 months.. depends on the individual. Oh well, I guess it's a wait and see, if my PCP sends what he is supposed to send in. Thanks, Vickie
