Insurance question

I was recently referred to this site from a friend in Illinois and find it a valuable resource for me in my decision to have WLS. I'd like to know if any of you have been able to successfully overturn an insurer's decision not to cover WLS? Currently, my insurance company has denied the request despite a note from two doctors stating that it was a medically necessary procedure for me. The insurance company's response? It's an "excluded benefit" from my employer's plan. Has anyone been able to have this overturned? If so, any tips for me? Thank you in advance.

I know some people have had appeals overturned. If your appeal is unsuccessful, try taliing to Walter Lindstrom at www.obesitylaw.com. I would also look at your policy to see if it is true that it is excluded. Remember it must say surgery for MORBID OBESITY and not just obesity.
