Help, I have regained weight
I had my RNY on 5.24.02 at OSU. when I had my surgery I was 384. I immediately started losing weight. I had to be hospitalized about 5 times for strictures (scare tissue), and I was dilated (stretched) each time. My lowest weight was in October, 2002, which was 288. I am currently at 334. How depressing and to feel like a failure in having the surgery and gaining weight. What words of encouragement can anyone give me. Should I start journaling. Do you think I can ever start losing weight again. I am not exercising like I should. Thanks, Carmen
I would start writing down everything that you are eating.. you can track it on fitday.com. that makes it easier to do. Also you need to get moving in some way, water aerobics is great...try it. I am also starting to read Dr. Phil new book, since I am also eating the wrong foods, and I am afraid I will also start to gain....
If you would like to join the support group I am involved with, check out this site.....www.butterflynetwork.org
Keep on fighting the good fight...the surgery is only a tool... you need to get your head back into the game.
YES-you can do it. But is is all up to you. Sharon posted about fitday. It is a wonderful site to track what you eat. Get 70-100 grams of protein in. Keep your carbs to 30 or less. Drink 700-100 oz of water every day. And, yes, exercise is key. Start out slow and work your way up. Think positive thoughts while you are doing it. You are worth it. You can do this. You can visit our site (wlsbutterflynetwork.com) but I encourage to seek out a support group that you can physically attend. Here is a link to a group in Columbus

Bob Leffler posted about it last month. Anyone can attend. Please keep me updated.
I went through the same thing. I had my first surgery Sept 99 and dropped from 502 to 314 and then developed a vitamin B deficiency and three bleeding ulcers and shot back up to 460. I went and applied for a revision. I would urge you to check into that. You may qualify again. I also use Fitday.com but a support group is more beneficial to me. I had my second surgery May 22, 2003 and I have now lost 101 lbs. Make sure you get your water in and protein. You might try Atkins while you are researching etc. Come join our support group www.wlsbutterflynetwork.org We are a great group of people.
