i don't know what to do - i am so confused. i was going to have the micropouch done, but now i'm kind of torn between that and the lapband. i've done a lot of research on the bypass surgery, but i can't find much on the lapband. could someone who has had it done contact me with some information? any help would be appreciated. thanks!
oh Kim- Let me turn you on to a book I picked up at the book store today - it's called "the Doctors guide to weight loss surgery - How to make the decision that could save your life" it is wonderful. It contains all of the info that I spent probably 40 + hours researching on the web. it was only $13.95 at Borders, written by Louis Flancbaum, M.D.
It explains all the different surgery options - graphics with what the differences are - and shows the success rates/percentages in a side by side comparison table so you can make an educated decision on which is best for you. How I WISH I had bought this book a few weeks ago.
Good luck in your decision.
Take care -
Tina S.
Kym,
I was just wondering if you had a chance to pick up the book? I know you were undecided - I am just hoping it helped. It's not biased - that I can tell anyhow - but just lists scientific info - stats- percentages - complications -successes - side affects - etc.
SO - the great thing is that you can see all the ups and downs of each - and make your decision. For instance - some surgeries that have higher weight loss rates have higher rates of malabsorption and are more risky in terms of health, thats just an example, but if the greater weight loss and greater chance of keeping it off are worth the added health risk - someone may choose that - but it's so nice to see the info laid out in such a way that you can feel comfortable about which one is good for you.
Good luck again!
Tina
