Just diagnosed with Diabetes. Will this hurt or help my chances of approval for WLS? My BMI is 60, I'm hypertensive, on a C-Pap machine and have trouble with my knees. I'm really beginning to feel like I'm falling apart. Thanks for your responses! Ginny

The more comorbidities you have will increase the chances that your insurance company will consider the procedure medically necessary. http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=125_SB_41 will take you to Bill 41. This bill documents the standards that most insurance companies use as the benchmark. With a BMI of 60 and your list of comorbidities, you shouldn't have a problem unless you insurance totally excludes the procedure. Most will approve if considered medical necessary.

Diabetes is certainly a co morbidity and I think it will help your chances. You seem to have enough so I would continue to push for it. Good luck to you and please email me with any questions
