Psych evaluation???
Hello, Who would be good to go to for my psych evaluation in the Middletown or Dayton area???? I would like to go to someone WLS friendly. I called the Dr's and they have given me a few but so far only one is on MMO and she's not taking on any new clients right now. Thanks for any suggestions. Robin W
I had my psych evaluation yesterday with Dr. Jeffrey Wilbert. I was almost more nervous about that than I am about the surgery. I was so concerned about being sure I acted and sounded normal and well-adjusted that I was afraid I would go overboard and seem like a wacko! ;o)
I chose Dr. Wilbert because my doctor's office staff said he gets his report to them fast, he takes my insurance, would do everything required in one visit, could get me in fast (I called on 7/14 and saw him on 7/23), and said he would fax his report to my doctor the day after my appointment. Dr. Wilbert is definitely WLS friendly.
I didn't really care for him a whole lot over the phone, though I can't say why. He was nice enough, but I wouldn't choose him if I needed a psychologist. After the interview he said that I am a good candidate for surgery but that I do have "food issues" (duh!?!) and "problems with stress eating". He suggested that I might want to read some books that address my problems, and that I could get a list of them from his web site. And, by the way, one of the books on the subject is called "Fattitudes", conveniently written by..... himself!!! His website is www.fattitudes.com
I sort of felt like a captive audience for him to soft-sell his book, but he was also nice, friendly, efficient, and concerned. If you are jumping through the required hoops, I guess he is as good as most, and better than many.
Dr. Wilbert's office is located across from the Dayton Mall on Miamisburg-Centerville Road, in the Cross Point Shopping Plaza. It's easy to get to.
Good Luck!
