Surgery 7-29-03 and all this info about protein powder , etc is new to me. I have not gone to the dietician yet, but will be going this week. Is this where you got this info. Do you have to bring food with you to the hospital? Do you know what an angel is supposed to do?

An angel supports you as well as gives updates. I am sure many do give protein advice etc. My advice is to try as many samples as you can before you go in. DO NOT BUY full cans until you find one you like. Whey protein is the best. IsoPure is a good one at GNC. We only absorb 30 and it has 40 g of protein but that will not hurt you. Find a water soluble easily digestible vitamin. I use the Vita4life ones. Made for bariatric patients. We need 60-70 g of protein or more. Also at least 8 glasses of water plus. You will not have to bring food as you will probably be on liquids and then pureeds. You doctor (surgeon) should have given you some kind of package. Our local support group in Cincinnati has a chat at 8pm every night. And you can always post questions there on that messageboard also. The next support group meeting is July 25, 2003 from 7-9 at Anderson Mercy Hospital off 5 mile road. It a 5 minute up the hill from I-275. Our website address is www.imnotfatanymore.com
