I have gained 12 pounds since March, worrying about having a knee replacement for the seond time, I am not wanting to go thru this again and am seriously considering the by-pass. I need info on what to expect after and what is the success rate as I have heard that some gain the weight back. Also will I never be able to eat sweets again which would be hard for me since I have a sweet tooth. I work at a desk job would I be able to return to work within 2 weeks? I am 53, single and my children grown so I am looking to finally travel and experience life again., but only thinner. Obesity has been my problem since I was 6 years old. If I go thru with the by-pass can anyone reccomend the bariatric center in Grove City ,Oh? What surgeons? What about Ohio State and Dr Needleman?

Brenda-I am pre-op but have been researching WLS for a long time. Some people do not want sweets at all post-op. Some crave it, but it gives them the dumping syndrome of nausea/and or diarrhea. Some do not experience dumping, and do gain weight back. I also love sweets but there is no way I am going to go thru something so drastic as surgery to revert back to my old ways. I would not recommend this surgery to anyone who is not totally committed to changing their lifestyle and eating habits. Besides, think how great you will feel once the weight comes off! Also, I have heard of people returning to work after 4 weeks-not sure about 2. Good Luck to you

After you have your surgery and depending on pre op health you can usually return part time in a week - 10 days with full time in about 2-4 weeks. I went back to work 11 days after the surgery and came back full time. I just used vacation time and not sick leave but that was a personal choice. The founder of our support group had surgery at a Bariatric treatment center. You may want to contact her @ [email protected]. Also there are many low carb sugar free sweet things. I don't use them because they are a trigger food and I am afraid I would not stop at this time. During the 6 months it is doubtful you will crave anything. Use this research time to check out the differen****ers, protein supplements vitamins etc.

Hi Brenda! I'm from Chillicothe, too. I used BTC and I'm very satisfied with my experience. My surgeon was Dr. Choban, she's very detailed and to the point, but yet very personable too. I had surgery on April 16 and am down around 50 pounds and 4 sizes. My email is [email protected], I'd give you my Adelphia one, but we're moving to Hillsboro at the first of August. Ask any questions you can think of!! Jessi
