Last minute things for surgery...
Hey all! Okay, I'm getting stuff together for my surgery, (July 14) and I need to make sure I have everything. Please let me know if I've forgotten anything:
Chapstick, protein powder, flavoring extracts, timer, crystal light, salad tongs, nutri-shakes, vitamins, bathrrom wipes, comfortable clothes for trip home, gown for hospital stay, (decided against a robe...) cd-walkman and books on cd, mashed potatoes, and baby food. (I think that's all) Am I forgetting anything?? Please let me know...
Thanks! ~Cyndi
Hii Cyndi,
It is great to be able to make those last minute decisions, isn't it. I personally really liked having a robe. That way I didn't worry about anything on the hospital gown, and I felt much more comforable getting up and walking down the halls with a robe on. I don't see that you've missed anything essential. Have a great trip. Monica
Cyndi,
I found Dannon Lite & Fit yogurt to be a life-saver! I'm not sure what your surgeon will allow you to have a first, but it really made the difference for me. They make it in a creamy style that doesn't need to be blended or strained. I also had a lot of soups. Cream of chicken and cream of potatoe (with chedder cheese added for protein) were also some of my favorites. They needed to be strained and then I just put them in the microwave. It was hard getting things in at first. I also love the Propel Fitness Water. I had trouble getting my water in and this is really good stuff. It has 2g of sugar in 23 oz. My favorite flavor is Strawberry-Kiwi, but all the flavors are great. Hope this helps a little bit. Best wishes for an uneventful and easy surgery. You are in for the ride of a lifetime... and you will realize that dreams really do come true. (I had laproscopic RNY done in Cleveland on 8/22/02 and I'm down 119# with only 16# to go to my ideal goal of 130#. It's the best thing I ever did in my life. And it gave my life back to me!) Tons of positive energy coming your way from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
I wanted to say Good Luck, and sounds like you have everything, unless you need a phone card...that was one thing I forgot, because everyone lives long distance, and I did not remember access number.
My hospital let me bring my own pillow from home...was like a lifesavor...
See you on the losing side.
Cyndi,
I'll be praying for you on 7/14. My date hasn't been set yet, but it sounds like it will be sometime in September. My doctor is going on vacation and doesn't want to do any surgeries before she leaves. Then I have the pre op stuff. Could you (or someone) give me an idea of pre-op involves?
I'm curious about the list of things you are taking with you. Did your dr's office give you a list of suggested items? It seems like everytime I read the posts I have more questions.
God bless everyone in your journey!
Kathy
